Unlimited Screening: Find out what members have been saying about new John Malkovich thriller Opus

Cineworld Unlimited members were treated to not one but two advance screenings this week. On Monday, we gave them an early chance to watch the new British revenge thriller Restless, directed by Jed Hart – and their reviews were very positive on the whole.

That was followed the day after by a special preview screening of Opus, Mark Anthony Green's much-talked-about new thriller. The movie stars legendary actor John Malkovich as Alfred Moretti, a 1990s pop icon who, having vanished from the spotlight for many years, makes a sudden and unexpected comeback. However, when he invites a carefully selected group of journalists to his remote estate to hear what he describes as "the greatest album of modern times", it soon becomes clear that this won't be a conventional listening party...

The trailer for the film looks intriguing, with things starting out in quite a lighthearted fashion before events take a sinister and terrifying turn. But what did Unlimited members make of the whole thing? Here are some of the comments they've left on X...

Cineworld Unlimited comes with lots of great benefits, including unlimited movie viewings, in-cinema discounts, invitations to advance screenings and discounts on premium formats. To find out more, click here.

One writer, @RJPKonstantiuk, gave the movie a massive thumbs-up, saying: "Thrilling and certainly entertaining, was a very enjoyable experience on a solo cinema trip for me tonight."

Another Unlimited member, @SueGinda, loved the fact that the film was so eccentric, and was also impressed with the climax: "Totally bizarre, but in a good way. Quite a twist at the end, which really made the film."

Unsurprisingly, the lead actor was singled out for praise, with @implausible17.bsky.social writing: "I enjoyed it, Malkovich being his usual bonkers self." They ended their review by saying: "I was entertained."

@DavidYorkeFilms also seemed to like Malkovich's performance, writing that "a scene that stood out for me was when Moretti serenaded his guests in the circle. Mesmerising."

Finally, @Trib_Ey commented: "I'd have liked to see more of Juliette Lewis. Malkovich the main draw though. Liked his version of popping spots."

Intrigued? Well, Opus is showing at Cineworld cinemas from today (14 March), so book your seats now!
