A new DC anti-hero is on his way to Cineworld screens – and he isn't playing nice. We're talking about Dwayne Johnson's granite-jawed and indestructible Black Adam, who arrives to make a scene this Friday.
The classic DC character, a noted comic book nemesis of the virtuous Shazam, is consumed with rage after the destruction of his family, which occurred centuries in the past.
However, the destructive Black Adam isn't the most dangerous kid on the block. Nascent superhero squad the Justice Society of America, spearheaded by Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), must enlist the former's skills to take down an even deadlier enemy.
Dwayne Johnson making his live-action DC Universe debut? This is big news and it commands your attention on the biggest screen possible. Here are all the ways you can feel the power of Black Adam at Cineworld.
1. IMAX
Black Adam is all about towering might and maximum chaos – who better than the monolithic Dwayne Johnson to embody those qualities? The movie's IMAX presentation is fitting for such an overwhelming character, utilising dual projection, greater screen expanse and enveloping digital surround sound to put you at the centre of Black Adam's world.

2. 4DX
What does it feel like to be sucker-punched by a Dwayne Johnson character? We've got the closest things to finding out. Witness Black Adam in 4DX, exclusive to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland, and expand your viewing experience with moving seats and motion that bring to life the movie's crunchy fights and explosive carnage. Meanwhile, scents and immersive effects, including wind and water, bring added tactility to Black Adam's destructive path of vengeance.

3. ScreenX
In ScreenX, state-of-the-art technology uses up to 12 additional projectors to extend the film onto the auditorium's side walls, for an atmospheric, 270-degree experience that surrounds you in your seat. It's the closest thing to a real-life comic book experience as you get all-encompassing dimensions of Dwayne, making for a palpably visceral rollercoaster ride.

4. Superscreen
Be overwhelmed by the scope and scale of Black Adam and upgrade from widescreen to Superscreen. The format uses a massive, wall-to-wall screen and Dolby Atmos Sound, combined with premium seating and dual 4K laser projection, all the better for witnessing the birth of the Justice Society of America, and the emergence of Black Adam as a monumental force.
